This roundtable analyzes the ways contemporary TV shows and advertising deploy images of race in the service of neoliberal hegemony. The session intervenes in current debates in race theory and the popular press about what has been called “color blindness” and the “postracial” moment and brings the terms of these debates to bear on the study of new media and contemporary mass culture.
