Over the past two decades, there has been a wave of criticism of higher education. Much of it comes from literary scholars and humanists. A large portion of it focuses on academic labor, much of it targets commercialization, some of it focuses on research, some of it focuses on students, and one strand continues to look at the humanistic tradition of the idea of the university. This panel investigates how these various strands of criticism contribute to an emerging field of critical university studies.
