David Palmer's Annotation:We plan to allow at least 25 minutes at the end of this 75-minute round table for an open discussion with everyone who attends. To keep the discussion lively, we are hoping that people from a variety of perspectives on the self and theater are able to join us.
Due to the recent snow and cold weather, Patrick Hogan's travel plans from Northern Wisconsin have been disrupted despite his best efforts. He may be unable to reach Chicago in time for this session.

A discussion among cognitive literary scholars and experts on Arthur Miller on how cognitive studies informs our understanding of Miller’s plays and how Miller’s conception of tragedy informs our understanding of the self. The discussion's purpose is to reveal Miller's plays as fertile subjects for the cognitive approach and to encourage theater scholars in general to explore cognitive studies.
